Microneedling/PRP/Vampire Facial®
Microneedling is an excellent treatment for addressing acne scars and the symptoms of aging skin. It’s also great for increasing the efficacy of your topical skincare products. Microneedling is designed to stimulate your skin’s natural ability to produce new collagen, creating healthier skin. Products are able to penetrate more deeply into the skin when applied during and after a microneedling procedure.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions…
What are the benefits?
New collagen production can reverse years of sun damage, improve acne scars, and enhance the overall appearance of aging skin.
Who is a candidate?
One of the most exciting things about Microneedling is that it can be used on all types of skin to address a wide range of problems, including acne scars and any area requiring cell regeneration or an intense repair process.
What areas of the body can be treated?
Microneedling is extremely versatile and can be used on all parts of the body: Face, neck, decollete, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back. The versatility makes it especially helpful when addressing acne scars on the back and stretch marks on the body.
How is the procedure done?
A sterile, disposable cartridge containing 12-36 tiny micro-needles is attached to the tip of pen. A thin layer of topical serum is applied to the skin. The pen is glided across the targeted repair area in a gentle motion. The appropriate microchanneling treatment is selected for each individual area.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure typically takes 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area and the severity is skin damage.
Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a serum of sorts made from your body’s blood plasma concentrated with your own platelets. Platelets help the body initiate wound healing and tissue repair. PRP is an essential component of treatment with the Vampire FaceLift®, Vampire Facial®, and Vampire BreastLift®.
By drawing a small amount of blood, Dr. Summer is able to create this perfectly tailored concentrate, taking full advantage of your body’s own unique and powerful healing abilities.
Your platelet-rich plasma, mixed with hydrating hyaluronic acid, is applied to the skin after the micro-needling procedure, enhancing its benefits.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions…
What are the components of PRP?
Platelets are key factors in hard and soft tissue repair mechanisms. Plasma contains high concentration of platelets, stem cells and growth factors. Platelets help your tissue heal and grow new cells. Plasma is essential for cell survival as it contains nutrients, vitamins, hormones, electrolytes and proteins. Proteins are key molecules for the coagulation process.
What are the benefits of Microneedling with PRP?
When PRP is used with Microneedling, it penetrates your skin through the tiny channels the Microneedles create. The PRP supercharges the microneedling benefits by offering collagen stimulation.
What is the downtime?
Immediately following the treatment, you will notice a healthy pink glow. Total healing time depends on the severity of the damaged skin and the depth of the repair process required.
Dermaplane
Dermaplaning is a terrific way to unveil brighter, smoother skin with minimal downtime. For patients with dry, rough skin, mild acne scarring, or just skin that’s showing the signs of aging, this procedure can bring terrific results.
During the procedure, a licensed aesthetician (do not try this at home!) will use a sterile scalpel to gently exfoliate the face, avoiding the eye and nose area. The process removes the dead cells at the skin’s surface, as well as the light, downy hairs on the face known as vellus hairs, or what we often affectionately refer to as” peach fuzz”. Vellus hairs can trap oil and dirt on the face, contributing to skin that looks dull or tired. And the great news about vellus hairs? Despite what you might have heard from your grandma, facial hair won’t grow back darker or thicker!
By physically removing dead skin cells, dermaplaning doesn’t just improve skins’ appearance – it also increases the absorption and effectiveness of your favorite topical skincare products. So your retinols, serums, peptides and other powerhouse facial products work harder for you with better results! And dermaplaning amps up your body’s production of new skin cells, contributing to the overall brightening of skin.
Dermaplaning is a terrific option for patients that experience sensitivity to chemical peels, because only a sterile scalpel will touch the skin. It’s also a wise choice for women who don’t want to use any strong topical treatments while they’re pregnant or nursing.
Peels
Chemical peels can improve the skin’s appearance. While the intensity and purpose of the peels may vary, all involve applying a topical solution to the skin, revealing smoother, less-wrinkled skin.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions…
Who is a candidate?
Almost all patients can enjoy the benefits of peels. Depending on your skin tone and type, some peels will be better for you than others. We will recommend the best choice for your situation. Skin sags, bulges and more severe wrinkles do not respond well to chemical peels and may best be treated with other procedures.
How is the procedure done?
First, your skin will be thoroughly cleaned. Next, the treatment solutions will be applied to small areas of your skin to create a controlled “peel”, letting new skin take its place.
Is a chemical peel painful?
This depends on the peel used. Some peels are not painful at all. Others create a burning sensation that lasts about five to ten minutes, followed by some stinging. Using cool compresses afterwards may ease the stinging.
What happens after the peel?
Depending on the type of chemical peel, most patients experience a reaction similar to a sunburn. Peeling usually involves redness and scaling that ends within a few days or a week. Afterwards, the new skin is revealed.
How often can a chemical peel be repeated?
Mild peels can be repeated every one to four weeks until the desired look is achieved. Stronger peels will need to be spaced farther apart. Regardless of the type of peel, all patient’s skin will be more sensitive to the sun – so using strong sunscreen and even avoiding the sun is recommended.
What are the types of peels?
At Lewisville Laser, we offer many types of peels and often customize a peel to a patient’s specific needs. Our most popular peels include:
Perfect Peel The Perfect Peel is the only peel that includes the powerful anti-oxidant Glutathione, which lightens and brightens the skin, slows down the aging process and helps prevent wrinkles.
Vitamin A Peel A unique and versatile professional exfoliant which provides a mild but effective way to achieve skin sloughing. This leave-on, Retinol formula is designed to be used either as a stand-alone treatment or to intensify another treatment.

PicoWay Resolve
Whether you’re looking to address dark spots and melasma, acne scarring, or fine lines and wrinkles, Lewisville Laser’s PicoWay Resolve is your non-surgical treatment of choice for lasting results with minimal downtime.
The PicoWay laser is an FDA-cleared powerhouse that delivers super-short bursts of laser energy deep within the skin – like a trillionth of a second short! These short bursts pack a powerful skin-renewing impact, but don’t have the same heavy side effects (think aggressive redness, swelling, peeling, and pain) that come with more traditional laser-energy rejuvenating treatments. The unique energy-delivery system of PicoWay results in what’s called a “photoacoustic” effect, and unlike the photothermal effect of other lasers, it doesn’t result in superheating the skin. It’s that high heat that is often behind the discomfort and extended downtime you might expect from other laser treatments.
Treatment with PicoWay Resolve stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin – building blocks for smoother, firmer, more radiant skin. And PicoWay’s targeted energy blasts away unwanted pigment without damage to your surrounding skin. With treatment times as short as 20 minutes, you can schedule a session during your lunch hour and get right back to your daily activities!
Kybella
Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat beneath the chin or any small pocket of fat by physically destroying fat cells.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions…
What causes the “double chin”?
Fullness due to fat beneath the chin can impact a broad range of both male and female adults. Some possible causes are genetics, weight gain, and aging.
How does Kybella work?
When injected into the fat beneath your chin, Kybella disrupts fat cells. Once treated, those cells broken down by your body and cannot store or accumulate fat. Your healthcare provider will give you a series of injections into the fat under your chin at each treatment session.
Fat cleared from the treatment area is processed through your body’s natural metabolism.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
Your healthcare provider will help you determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals. Each treatment would be spaced a month apart from each other.
What can I expect after my treatment session?
For most patients, downtime occurred most commonly right after the treatment session. You should be able to resume your daily activities, but are likely to have swelling so keep your work commitments and social plans in mind when scheduling. Prior to your treatment, your healthcare provider may apply ice packs to the treatment area. Applying the ice pack after treatment is also recommended.
Will there be side effects?
The most common side effects include:
- Swelling
- Numbness
- Bruising
- Redness
- Tenderness
- Areas of firmness
